A Healthy Weight Loss Diet

Here's what the UK Government has to say:

A healthy diet contains lots of fruit and vegetables; is based on starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, pasta and rice; and is low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar.

Most people should be eating:

  • more fruit and veg
  • more starchy foods such as rice, bread, pasta (try to choose wholegrain varieties when you can) and potatoes
  • less fat, salt and sugar
  • some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs and pulses
It's also important to eat a variety of foods to make sure we get all the nutrients our bodies need.
